Garden of Gabriel Albert
"Albert Gabriel always wanted to be a sculptor, but force of
circumstance led him to earn his living as a manual worker; he was able
to realise his ambition only on retirement in 1967. His sculpture
garden, near Cognac, consists of hundreds of busts and full-length
figures, constructed of coloured cement over metal frames; they
represent many of the public and popular personalities of his time."
"French Presidents Jacques Chirac, Francois Mitterand and Valery
Giscard d'Estaing are all present, as are entertainers Charlie Chaplin,
Georges Brassens and Jacques Brel. His garden also displays angels,
representatives of foreign peoples and a series of seductive
bare-breasted dancing beauties."

Worlds" by Deidi Von Schaewen
and John Maizels
